Writers’ Block ::: Fridays in June + July

Join us for our next sessions of Writers' Block, where we will gather to quietly work side by side on our own individual writing projects. Think of Writers' Block as a form of 'parallel play,' where we're next to one another, working independently. Together.

Writers' Block provides you with dedicated time and space to work on your writing practice. You get to choose what you're going to work on during your time on the Block. Snacks, coffee, tea, and sparkle water will be provided to participants. Bring your own laptop, writing utensils, notebooks, and/or paper.

Writers' Block is self-guided time to write. Though we will do a quick goal setting check in when we start and another at the end of the session, this is non-instructional time. Writers on the Block will never be pressured to share what they've written.

Writers' Block cost is $5 per hour, with each session lasting 2 hours ($10 total for each session). This will purchase our refreshments and help us build our Hive Fund with any left over funds after snack purchasing.

Space is limited to 8 participants per session.

Click the link below to register for upcoming Writers' Block sessions, hosted by Chicago Reader food & culture writer JT Goehring-Newman at her private residence in Evanston.

Submit your registration fee online at https://www.hivebookarts.org/donate  or pay via PayPal (info@hivebookarts.org), Venmo (@Hive-CenterfortheBookArts), or Zelle (info@hivebookarts.org) to complete your registration.

Please note: the registration fees are non-refundable, given the prep involved in Writers' Block (we generally make zero profit). In the event you can't make your reserved Writers' Block session, we'll consider your $10 registration fee a donation to Hive (soon to be tax deductible!)

Once you've reserved your slot(s) on the Block, we'll email you with the location and even more details!

Thank you! We're glad you're here!
