ONLINE: Creative Journaling with Morgan Patten September 15-December 8 :: 6-8pm CST
In this course, participants will spend time together exploring creative journaling techniques and ideas, while also incorporating weekly themes. In addition to instruction and demos of techniques, we will have dedicated work time, with background music provided, as well as a view of the instructor’s creative journaling of process as an example.
During the last 30 minutes, those who would like to may share with the group what they worked on during the session. Participants are encouraged to continue working on their pages outside of class during the following week. By the end of the full course session, each student will have a small artist’s book, with at least 12 pages of journal entries to demonstrate their areas of exploration.
This is a TWELVE WEEK course (6-8 pm CST): September 15-December 8.
There is NO class on December 1.
ZOOM LINK WILL BE PROVIDED ONE WEEK BEFORE START OF COURSE.
Supplies: Participants should gather the supplies that they think they will need before each class session: A journal, scrap paper, collage material, pens, pencils, coloring implements, PVA glue, tape, paper towel rolls, scraps of ribbon / fabric, stickers, needle and thread, etc.
Participants may also purchase a kit, curated by Ms. Patten.Supply kit requests must be made at least one week before the start of the class.
Morgan Patten is a multimedia artist based out of Evanston, IL. She completed her studies in Studio Art, with a focus on drawing, from DePaul University in 2017, and has been experimenting with different styles and media ever since.
Her process of constant experimentation and exploration is what helps to keep her creative and curious in her art practice. Her current favorite media include linoleum prints, tattooing, and embroidery.
She is most inspired by animals and nature, personal psychological analysis, symbolic and archetypal imagery, and her cultural heritage from Ukraine and Eastern Europe.
